'Austin Powers' may head to Broadway

NEW YORK, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Canadian actor and writer Mike Myers is in talks to bring his outrageous secret-agent character Austin Powers to Broadway, the New York Post said.

Myers played the role of the 1960s-era spy, who finds himself battling villains in the present, in three movies -- 1997's "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," 1999's "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" and 2002's "Austin Powers: Goldmember." The franchise has earned nearly $700 million at the global box office.

"Mike is in talks to turn Austin Powers into a musical stage show. Mike would be heavily involved in writing the show, but he will not star in it, even though he has quite a good singing voice," a source close to Myers told the Post.

The newspaper also said Myers is writing a fourth "Austin Powers" movie to be released in 2013 or 2014. No start date has been set for filming yet, though, the report said.
