Our newest addition is the Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. Established in 1988, the company was located in a converted Kendall movie theatre for its first seven years. In 1995, Actors' Playhouse entered a partnership with the City of Coral Gables to renovate the historic Miracle Theatre, transforming the splendid Art Deco facility into the company's new home.
Since its founding eighteen years ago, Actors' Playhouse has become the leading producer of major Broadway musicals in South Florida. An award-winning theatre company, Actors’ Playhouse presents six shows on the Mainstage year-round and five musicals in their Children’s Theatre. The company also hosts an annual Theatre Conservatory and summer camp program. The Annual National Children’s Theatre Festival is one of a kind in the area offering multicultural events for families including a new musical chosen from its national call to competition. Actors’ Playhouse is the resident theatre company in the historic Miracle Theatre, once a showcase movie house for Wometco Enterprises. The non-profit company has a long-term partnership with the City of Coral Gables, owners of the building, for its renovation and restoration of the Miracle Theatre into a state-of-the-art 600-seat auditorium, 300-seat balcony theatre, and 100-seat black box space. The theatre is spear headed by Barbara S. Stein Executive Producing Director and David Arisco Artistic Director and a Board of Directors chaired by founding Chairman Dr. Lawrence E. Stein.
